Tampa Sports Authority Internships

Operations Assistants:

The Tampa Sports Authority offers a 7-month and a one year operations assistant internship. Each internship involves working as a hands on assistant to the Raymond James Stadium operations department.

• Year Long internship from July 2008 to July 2009
• 7-month internship (8-months) from July 2008 to February 2009

Interns have a variety of responsibilities that include:

• Event preparations
• Ordering stadium related items
• Distributing passes and credentials
• Creating additional information packages for event employees
• Stadium tours
• Pre-event stadium walk through
• Supervision of event
• Event analysis
• Event payroll
• Other stadium related issues

Qualifications:

Candidates must be a senior or graduate level student with a minimum 3.0 GPA in Sports Management. A thorough knowledge of sports administration and management, accounting, computer skills (Excel, Word, and Word Perfect) is necessary. Practical experience at a stadium/arena facility is desired. All candidates must have a valid drivers license.

Compensation:

• Each intern is paid an hourly rate of $7.00 with an additional $120.00 for each event worked.

Benefits:

Interns receive paid time off from work as follows:

• a one year intern receives six days of time off (vacation/sick leave)
• a seven month intern receives three days of time off (vacation/sick leave)

Deadline:

Any student interested in our program must submit their resume by March 3, 2008. Interviews will take place during the month of March, and decisions will be made by the 31st of March. Communications/Marketing Assistants:

The Tampa Sports Authority offers a summer internship and a one-year (13-months) communications/marketing assistant internship.

• Year long internship (13-months) from May 2008 to June 2009
• Summer internship from May 2008 to August 2008

The position requires the intern to perform the following duties:

• Develop and conduct operational surveys to all NFL stadiums
• Conduct tours of the stadium
• Compile and update the stadium guide
• Update TSA website, event calendar, policies/procedures, and tour information
• Assist with game day operations
• Editing and developing brochures and publications
• Assist with the marketing of the golf courses
• Work stadium events

Qualifications:

The candidate should be a graduating senior or a graduate level student with a minimum 3.0 GPA in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or related business classes. The student must possess excellent writing skills and copyediting skills. In addition to strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks, the candidate must have a working knowledge of WordPerfect, Excel, and the Internet.

Compensation:

• The one-year intern is paid an hourly rate of $7.00 with an additional $120.00 for each event worked.
• The summer intern is not paid monthly but is paid $120.00 for each event worked.
