Raymond James Stadium® FactsTampa's community football stadium was named Raymond James Stadium at its dedication September 20, 1998. Raymond James Stadium is the home of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, University of South Florida Bulls football and the New Year's Day Outback Bowl, as well as concerts and special events. When the Buccaneers took the field in Raymond James Stadium for the first time, they relocated only a few hundred yards from the original Tampa Stadium field. Although it was a short-distance trip, the move to the new stadium took a great deal of time and effort. Yet after three years of intense research, development and construction, Raymond James Stadium emerged as one of the best facilities in the leagues. Through a combination of the finest elements in modern stadium design and groundbreaking innovations, the stadium was designed to enhance the spectator experience. Members of the NFL Players Association have rated Raymond James Stadium's field as the best in the league for the past six years, while league insiders refer to the stadium as the crown jewel of the NFL. The stadium was named by Raymond James Financial, a St. Petersburg, FL based financial services firm with more than 1,500 offices throughout the United States and overseas. Raymond James Stadium hosted Super Bowl XXXV on January 28, 2001. The Baltimore Ravens defeated the New York Giants 34 to 7. |
